Drop the sunvisors for support HeatShield is stiff enough to be supported by the sunvisors alone, but it is flexible enough to be bent around the mirror. Once installed, HeatShield will reduce the interior temperature at the dashboard by as much as 40 deg. F. (25 deg. C.) HeatShields are simple to use, but they are just as easy to store! PRODUCT STORAGE When not in use, store your HeatShield like this: Lift sunvisors and pull HeatShield down. Roll up from end to end. Wrap the attached Velcro strap

Sunshade for HONDA CRV CR-V 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 Heatshield Brand Windshield Custom-fit Sunshade Review
Having lived in AZ and now TX for most of my life, I feel like I have been waging a constant battle against the sun. I bought light-colored vehicles with light-colored interiors, window tints, and sunshades of all kinds. With the purchase of this Heatshield Brand Windshield Custom-fit Sunshade, I feel like I have finally won the war.
I have used an accordion-style cardboard sunshade. Their main benefits are that they are cheap, come in a huge variety of colors/schemes, and are quick and easy to fold up and put away. As far as blocking heat, they are better than nothing at all, but only just barely. Unfortunately, the colors quickly faded in the fierce AZ sun. I abandoned it in search of something better.
Next I tried one of those snazzy pop-up sunshades. They can be compressed into a small disc shape and stored in a small round bag (included). When you are ready to use them, just pull them out and they spring into two medium-sized rectangular sunshades. The ones I had were silvery in color, supposedly to reflect more heat/light away; they do come in different colors/schemes as well. Their main benefits are that they take up the least amount of room when not being used, and are rather inexpensive. However, the sunshade material itself was very thin, and the AZ summer sun seemed to laugh at this sunshade. Also, folding up the sunshade takes some practice. Again, they are better than nothing, but still not enough protection for me.
Then I bought an accordion-style Mylar foil insulated sunshade. It's similar to the cardboard sunshade, except that it's made of a layer of stiff bubble wrap covered in reflective Mylar (the material that shiny metallic helium balloons are made of). The bubble layer kept a lot of heat out, and the Mylar reflected a lot of sunlight away. The sunshade only comes in the Mylar color, as far as I can tell, but at least it is inexpensive. I really liked this sunshade, and used it for about a decade, long after the elastic closures had dried up and broken off. Unfortunately, my new Honda CR-V has a longer and wider windshield than my previous car, so my trusty old sunshade was letting in a significant amount of heat and light around the edges. Time to find a new sunshade!
My search led me to this Heatshield Brand Windshield Custom-fit Sunshade. I liked that it is specific to my 2011 Honda CR-V and is made in the USA. It is reflective and insulating like my last sunshade, but since it is custom-fit, there is no light / heat leakage around the edges (well, there's a thin crack of light that gets through on the sides because they curl in slightly; it's not an issue though). Unfortunately, because it is custom-fit, it took a little while to get to me (over a week, although in their defense it was during the 4th of July holiday). However, it was worth the wait and the higher price! Once I put it up, it keeps my car cool even in direct midday sun.
A couple of reviewers have noted that this sunshade is quite large. It has to be, because it needs to cover your windshield (duh). It's bigger than my old accordion-style sunshade, but that's exactly what I was looking for, so that's not a problem in my book. Rolling it up does take longer than folding up my old accordion-style sunshade, but only like 10 sec longer (less for most people, since I'm kind of picky about that kind of thing and roll slowly) so it's not a big deal. The easiest way to roll it up is to just do the exact reverse of putting it up; in other words, just lift the sunvisors and roll it up WHILE IT'S STILL IN THE WINDSHIELD. Don't try to pull it out of the windshield and then roll it; you might poke someone's eye and you will probably knock your rearview mirror out of place. The rolled-up sunshade does take up slightly more room than the folded-up accordion-style sunshade, but not a whole lot more.
So in conclusion, I highly recommend this Heatshield Brand Windshield Custom-fit Sunshade. This sunshade, in conjunction with the newer window tinting that blocks heat but not light, has finally won the battle against the sun for me and my car. I am no longer afraid of venturing out to run errands during the midday heat! I love it so much that I plan to buy one for my mother (still in AZ) as soon as I figure out the exact year, make, and model of her car. Thanks for reading!
