Hypertech 752501 Review - for Jeep Grand Cherokee

NOTE ABOUT COMPATIBILITY: The Vehicle Compatility Tool here on AMAZON and on MOST other seller's web sites are not complete or correct. The compatbiity tool on Amazon said this was not for my Jeep Grand Cherokee but the Hypertech web site said it was. When I bought it from Amazon it worked. Go to the Hypertech web site to determine compatibility - don't bother with the compatibility chart on the Amazon product listing.

As you probably know, your dealer will calibrate your speedo for a fee, but the MOPAR equipment is only able to program for tire sizes and differentials that are standard options for the car. I was quoted $96.00 before they figured out they could'nt calibrate to my over-sized tires.

This was much easier than I expected. After putting on some new 18" Wheels/Tires on my Grand Cherokee that came from a 2013 Wrangler, the speed and odometer were off 8%. The 8% longer "gear ratio" feels much better to me with the 5.7 HEMI.

The unit comes with a full manual on a CD but also has a 3 Step "Quick Installation" guide that fits on a half sheet of paper including illustrations. The simple 3 step guide is all that's needed unless you have complications. But KEEP THE CD. Its needed to connect to Hypertech for updates for new vehicles or if you want to pay for feature upgrades for the unit.

SKIP MEASURING THE ROLLING DIAMETER YOURSELF - GO TO NEXT PARAGRAPH
The instruction callS for rolling the car 1 wheel revolution, marking the tires and garage floor with chalk; Then divide the distance by Pi (3.1416) This gave me 31.2" diameter. Factory Specs and my own direct measurement of the tire say 32". Rolling diameter (based on axle to ground distance) is less than full diameter due to load compression. During programming it lets you step through .25" increments to your desired "tire height" selection. I rounded down from 31.2" to 31" since the tires were brand new and would be .25" smaller diameter before reaching the mid-point in their service life.

ITS EASIER TO CALCULATE "TIRE HEIGHT" FROM INFO ON THE TIRE RACK WEB SITE THAN BY MEASURING THE ROLLING DIAMETER YOURSELF.

go to the TireRack web site and look up the specs for your tires. Write down the "Revs-per-Mile" figure.

Calculate (5280 x 12 / Revs-per-mile / 3.1416) = your rolling diameter in inches. (called "tire-height" on the hypertech programmer)

or use (20268.1 / Revs-per-mile) = "tire-height"

For my tires this gave an accurate result equal to the tire-height that I measured by rolling the car one tire revolution.

THE PROGRAMMING: After figuring out the tire diameter setting I was going to use, I plugged the unit into the diagnostic port under the dash and followed the prompts. 4 or 5 minutes later I was done.

The first thing this unit does is read out any Diagnostic Trouble Codes on your car's computer. I had 4 DTC's but haven't looked them up yet. The programmer requires the DTC's be cleared before continuing. It does this for you when you select that option.

RESULTS: When finished, the speedo and my GPS were an exact match.

TIED TO SINGLE VEHICLE: You can't sell this unit or use it on another vehicle unless you use it to return your first vehicle back to factory specs. The full instruction manual says it will give you an error message if you connect to a second vehicle before un-programming any modifications made on the first vehicle.

The full manual also says it's internal database of vehicles can be updated with your PC from the Hypertech web site. I wonder how long into the future it might keep working with newer cars.

Honda Genuine Factory Leather Steering Wheel Cover - 08U98-TK6-120; 2009 to 2013 Insight and Fit Review

The other post bothers me a bit but I look up the same cover for other Honda, and reviews are ok so I made the purchase.
Its just a piece of flat leather pre-cut to steering wheel shape, you will have to do the stitching yourself. Very tight, I had to pull hard to get it over onto the wheel. To be quite honest the stitching part was a PAIN. Couldn't get the angle right to start it. After a few tries I learned how to do it, and its smooth after. Total stitching too me a good 45 minutes. It is my fault since I didn't line up the stitches right and had to untight and re-do. But I am VERY HAPPY with how it came out. This is not a $15 cover at advance auto parts cover, it genuine factory cover. Some advise while install this:
- Download the instruction and read through it, don't skip any steps.
- The package came with enough string for stitching. It didn't feel like it initially so I skip a few stitches, then found out I have way too much lines left, and to undo it..... just follow instruction.
- The lines they provided is tough and it can take the pressure., you will need to pull hard to make sure a tight fit, shouldn't have any gaps when between stitches. If there is, you need to pull harder on the string to make a tight stitch.(With the exception of joints on the cover... you will know what I mean when you get there, too much material there you will have a little gap.)
- WEAR GLOVE. Cut my hand in a few places while pulling on the string.

Over all, I am very happy with how it came out, if you willing to put in the time to do it right, its well worth it!!

The retaining ring is die cut from sheet stock that is flash plated prior to the cutting process. Clearly the ends will rust upon installation. Shame on Mr. Gasket, shame on B&M and shame on everybody else involved in turning a piece of Americana into a piece of junk. Well 11 days later no mats, no update, no response to my email and when you call their office you are on hold for such a long time that you hang up (one hour first time and one hand a half hours last time). I actually use both of these cushions at once on the headrest in my car one of them supports the other and holds it up to the proper level to support my head. i've gone through literally dozens of cushions, braces, supports, etc. since my back was broken 8 years ago and these proved excellent relief but, i bought them specifically for the head rest on my car.

the headrest on my car is rather small and doesn't lower all the way to the seat so that's why i need two cushions, one to hold the other up at the right level.

As for the pillows themselves, they are moderately firm, neither squishy, nor rock hard. they seem of quality construction and are shaped well for use on a car head rest.
